I have always been proud to call Frederick County my home and I am excited about the prospect of serving you in the House of Delegates. I was raised to value the importance of serving our community and working to make a difference.

My local government experience as a Councilwoman, coupled with my passion to serve the community, will bring fresh insight to Annapolis that demonstrates respect and compassion for taxpayers, business owners, and working families.

Maryland should be a place where families can afford to live and businesses are encouraged to thrive. With your help we can restore opportunity and economic vitality in Maryland.

MOUNT AIRY, MD – Former Mount Airy Town Councilwoman and former candidate for Delegate in District 4, Wendi Peters, will be seeking the appointment to replace Delegate Kelly Schulz in the Maryland House of Delegates.

Peters released the following statement about her intentions:

“Congratulations to my friend, Delegate Kelly Schulz, on her appointment to the incoming Hogan administration as Secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation. Kelly has been a great leader in the House of Delegates and will serve our state well in her new position.

Over 18 months ago, I decided to run for House of Delegates because of my commitment to working for the citizens of District 4 to make Maryland a place where families can afford to live, work and retire. I still maintain that commitment. That is why I will now seek appointment to the House of Delegates to fill the vacant seat when Delegate Schulz joins Governor-elect Larry Hogan’s administration.

I had the honor of serving my hometown, Mount Airy, as an elected Councilwoman for eight years. I have a proven track record of problem solving and achieving results, while working to keep taxes low and to promote economic vitality. Service is imperative for good leadership. It has been my privilege to remain engaged in the community as a volunteer and youth mentor. My municipal experience supporting local economic growth, coupled with my passion for serving the community, would bring a way of doing business to Annapolis that is consistent with Delegate Schulz’s record of effective leadership in the House of Delegates.

I appreciate all of the encouragement and support over the last 18 months and especially in the last few days! I look forward to working with the Frederick and Carroll County Republican Central Committees in the appointment process. I hope you will join me in urging the Central Committees to recommend that I be appointed Delegate for District 4.”

Larry Hogan for Governor

photo 2Friends:

It was an honor to have our next Governor, Larry Hogan in Mount Airy last week. I appreciate the time he spent with our volunteer fire company members and many local business owners. He understands their struggles and will bring fiscal responsibility and tax relief to Maryland. His passion is encouraging and his commitment is impressive. He will CHANGE MARYLAND, but we must all get to the polls and VOTE!

Maryland will be a place where families can afford to live, work and retire and businesses thrive when we elect Larry Hogan for Governor.

Thanks very much for your support! See you at the polls.

Thank You

Thank you for all that you have done for our campaign over the last year. The results were disappointing, but I am honored and humbled by your support, dedication and friendship. It means the world to me.

While the politics of the primary are over, nothing has changed for the businesses that are barely holding on, the families who struggle to make ends meet or the individuals battling serious medical conditions. In the face of these challenges, a disappointing primary loss hardly compares. Maryland has been home to my family for four generations. It is a special place and we must continue to work to make our State a place where families can afford to live, work and retire.

I hope that we can all unite to elect statewide leaders who share our commitment to tax relief and limited government. Larry Hogan and Boyd Rutherford will need our help to be Maryland’s next Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Only by electing strong conservative leaders can we undo the damage done by the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s numerous tax hikes and make Maryland a more competitive state in which businesses can once again thrive. It is also important to have Jeffrey Pritzker as Attorney General and Bill Campbell as Comptroller so that Hogan and Rutherford have allies in important statewide offices to carry out our mission. Let us work together to elect Republicans to the General Assembly and to our county offices.

As for me, I do not know what the future holds. As a cancer survivor, I am thankful for life. And of course, I am thankful for my family and friends. I am also thankful for the campaign experience because, while I am not naive to the reality of politics, I am extremely proud of our consistently positive and unifying campaign based on our vision and values. We never resorted to negative attacks against our opponents or distortions of their records because we truly believe the voters deserve better.

I have been blessed beyond measure in my life and “to whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48). I will be taking some time off to spend with family, catch up on work, and prayerfully discern how we can utilize our God-given talents to make the greatest positive impact on Maryland. I will be sure to inform you all about our next endeavor and I hope you will join us!

I believe that Maryland’s unique history, resilient people, and strong work ethic will overcome the misguided, short-sighted policies we currently face.

Thank you and God bless!
